A must see
Kyyhkylä’s old cowshed hosts an exhibition of colourful recycling art.
Artist Ritva Nurmi wishes to bring joy to viewers through her art. She uses abandoned, discovered and donated old objects of no further use, such as dusters, air balloons, broken mirrors, pairless gloves and plastic bottles, as materials. Nurmi only buys the tools she needs to create her works of art. Everything else is recycled.
Ritva Nurmi started her hobby by making paintings on birch bark and wooden sculptures. Nurmi has not attended art schools and has gained her skills through long experience and by trial and error. Besides painting and sculpting, she also writes and adapts songs and organises sing-along events in Kyyhkylä.
Artist Ritva Nurmi is happy to greet people coming to see her exhibition and tell more about the inspiration for different works of art, so remember to enquire about this option when making your booking. This lovely exhibition is open all year round and free of charge.
